CAUTION

An unidentified male suspect is being sought in connection with armed bank robberies in the California and Arizona areas in May of 2003. Prior to the first robbery which occurred early in May, the suspect went to a bank in Anaheim, California, approached the branch manager, and displayed a badge and business card with the FBI emblem. He then displayed a bulletin regarding suspects who may have been involved in bank robberies in the area. The next day, the suspect re-entered the bank in Anaheim, again posing as an FBI Agent, and approached the branch manager. He demanded access to the vault and handcuffed to the branch manager's wrist a briefcase which he threatened had a bomb inside. With the assistance of other employees, the branch manager took the suspect to the vault and filled with money a canvass gym bag provided by the suspect. The employees then were instructed to remain in the vault while the suspect fled from the bank.

A similar bank robbery occurred late in May of 2003, in Scottsdale, Arizona. The suspect went to the bank posing as an FBI Agent, and handcuffed the branch manager to a metal box which he threatened had a bomb inside. The robber demanded entry to the vault, and displayed a handgun to ensure access to the vault and prevent the manager from calling the police. The robber then forced a teller to fill his gym bag with money, and left the bank through a rear exit.

During both robberies, the suspect seemed very familiar with bank procedures. The suspect has been dubbed the "Impersonator Bandit".

REMARKS

The unknown suspect has a large belly and a round face. He is balding and also is believed to have worn a wig in one robbery. He was sweating, but was fairly composed. The suspect wore brown and blue business suits; white shirt; tie; gold watch; and wire-rimmed eyeglasses. He carried a black handgun on his right hip; a black, hard briefcase or a metal box; and a dark, approximately 2-foot-long gym bag.
