Our Mission
The mission of the Community Relations Office is to recognize the diverse interests of the region and its stakeholders, to engage regional stakeholders in issues of mutual interest, and to recognize that giving back to the community is a worthwhile corporate business practice. CRO supports the Laboratory mission through initiatives encompassing community communications, community and local government outreach, small business advocacy and employee and corporate giving programs. Among the roles the office plays is support of liaisons in Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, Taos, and other counties, the Laboratory’s volunteer program, various external publications, a public Reading Room as well as a growing emphasis on support of local small businesses. It also provides advice and counsel to the Director’s office and other organizations on the best approach to interface with the public and interested parties. Coordination with PAO and GRO is an important part of its role in ensuring consistent messages to the public.
