My name is Joseph A. DiZinno. I am the Section Chief of the Scientific
Analysis Section of the FBI Laboratory in Washington, D.C.
Since the Leahy letter arrived at USAMRIID, it was examined by personnel
from USAMRIID, and the letter was decontaminated to render it safe for
subsequent forensic analysis in the FBI Laboratory. The letter was then
transported by an FBI Agent from USAMRIID to the FBI Laboratory and immediately
forensic analysis begun.
The type of evidence that we attempt to recover from the letter are following
our standard protocols: any evidence that would subsequently possibly
identify a suspect in this case.
