Ethnic and Character
Education Program
Through interactive lessons given by CJIS Division staff, the six pillars
of character --trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring,
and citizenship -- will be taught to elementary, middle, and high school
students. The program will address the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral
aspects of moral life.
The Lunch Bunch
Program
The Lunch Bunch Program addresses the special needs of students who
attend Rock Cave Elementary and South Harrison Middle Schools, CJIS
Division Partners for Citizenship and Education Schools. Team leaders
from the FBI talk to students about academic challenges, addictions
to drugs and alcohol, and communication with parents. They also cover
topics such as death, divorce, peer pressure, and self-esteem. Team
leaders meet with students twice a month during lunch. The Lunch Bunch
Program gives students a chance to talk to an adult - other than a parent
or teacher -- in a nonthreatening environment.
Fatal Vision
(Driving Under the Influence) Goggles Program
The Fatal Vision Goggles Program is a training tool used by the CJIS
Division COP to demonstrate the dangers of impaired driving. The Goggles
distort a student's vision, simulating what it is like to be under the
influence of drugs or alcohol.
Bully Prevention
Program
The Bully Prevention Program provides elementary, middle, and high school
students with tips and strategies for handling bullies, which is a big
problem facing children today. Students are made aware of the physical,
verbal, and psychological aspects of bullying along with steps that
can be taken to deal with bullies.
The program can
also be geared towards adult groups to educate them on ways to prevent
and address the problem of bullying. The program provides tips to parents
and teachers on how to handle situations which involve bullying.
