The Special Photographic
Unit is the primary imaging operation of the FBI. The Unit captures,
processes, produces, analyzes, archives, and disseminates images
using traditional, silver-based photographic processes and digital
imaging technologies. The Unit is responsible for the following:

- Aerial photography
- Venue photography
- Tactical imaging
- Photographic scanners
- Field photographic

- Regional photographic
processing color minilaboratories
