SUMMARY: This letter describes a new training series on the 2000-2001 EDExpress Application Processing for Windows software. Workshop schedules and registration information are included.

Dear Partner:

We are pleased to announce a series of workshops on the 2000-2001 EDExpress Application Processing. These workshops are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) Student Financial Assistance Programs, SFA University and will be offered in May through September, 2000 in the U.S. Department of Education's Regional Training Facilities and selected off-site locations.

EDExpress is an ED-developed software that enables schools to process Title IV data electronically using the Department's Electronic Data Exchange (EDE). These training sessions will provide instruction on the new 2000-2001software with hands-on exercises using a simulated database on live software.

The training is intended for financial aid personnel who have day-to-day responsibility for electronic application processing and who have had previous experience using the software. ED staff and selected school trainers who are experienced using this software will conduct the EDExpress training. The training will not include EDExpress initial set up or basic information for those new to EDExpress.
The Application Processing training is a one-day workshop that will include:
Computer based training using a live data base to simulate the entering of electronic FAFSA's, to transmit data through Edconn32 for Windows, to retrieve Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs), and electronic financial aid data management
Queries and Document Tracking
Processing and Correcting ISIRs

Because this is a "hands-on" computer training, the size of each class is limited, and registration is absolutely required. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and due to the limited space, participation is limited to forty people per workshop. Trainees should register for the desired training session by selecting the icon below. Registration will be confirmed by e-mail. In the event of a workshop cancellation, each trainee will be notified by telephone or e-mail. If you need help in the registration process, please call (202) 205-2667 or e-mail SFA Internet_Registration@ed.gov for assistance.

This training is free of charge; however participants must arrange and pay for their own transportation, meals and lodging. If you have questions about the site location, please call the telephone number for the region for which you will be attending. The regional telephone numbers are listed on the workshop schedule.

On behalf of the Student Financial Assistance Programs and SFA University, we look forward to your participation in this training series.

Sincerely,

Anne Teresa
Acting Director, SFA University
