We are pleased to announce Direct Consolidation Loan training. This announcement tells you what the training will cover, who should attend, the training dates, locations, and how to register.

What will the training cover?

This training will cover basic concepts, processes and procedures for combining education loans into a Direct Consolidation Loan. Topics to be covered include:

The consolidation process
Eligibility requirements
Repayment options
Deferment options
Regaining Title IV eligibility
Counseling your borrowers
Borrower assistance service
Other helpful tips

Who should attend?

Financial Aid professionals wanting to assist borrowers with questions about Direct Consolidation Loans with comfort and ease.

When and where is the training?

The training sessions are half a day, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and are being offered in the Department's Washington, DC, and Regional Training Facilities.

How do I register?

To register for a training session, you will need an Internet browser version 4.0 or higher and an email address to access our On-line Training Registration system. With the browser installed and an e-mail address, you may register for one of our sessions right now by clicking on the
Register Now” icon at the bottom of this page and following the system directions.

If you do not have an e-mail address, you may obtain one temporarily to register, by going to any major Internet search engine and searching for free e-mail account. Only one person can use each e-mail address to register. Please be sure to enter your e-mail address correctly. If it is incorrect, your registration cannot be processed. If you experience any difficulty registering, please send an e-mail message to: SFA
Internet_Registration@ed.gov or call us at (202) 205-2667, and we will contact you as soon as possible.

This training is free, however you need to make your own travel and hotel arrangements. We urge you to wait until after you receive our e-mail confirmation before making any non-refundable reservations.
