Jewelry and Gem Program

JAG Database

This comprehensive database, maintained by the Major Theft Unit at FBI Headquarters, captures suspect descriptions and images, modus operandi, and stolen jewelry descriptions and images reported by law enforcement and the jewelry industry.

The FBI collects and analyzes all the JAG crime reports on the database, linking gangs, gang members, and thefts across many, sometimes distant jurisdictions and enabling it to coordinate investigations by local law enforcement agencies and the appropriate FBI field offices. This intelligence produces a big picture than helps us plot trends.

The JAG Database, as well as information on current trends, is accessible to local law enforcement officials on the JAG webpage of the FBI’s Law Enforcement Online (LEO).
