McDowell County, WV, August 24, 2001 -- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contractors lay sewer line at the newly constructed New Hope Village. The Manufactured homes site will provide housing for 68 families whose houses were seriously damaged in the 2001 summer floods.

Region III Environmental Information  
Photo of the relocating historic structures. Whenever federal funding is involved, projects must be reviewed to ensure compliance with all environmental and historic laws, regulations, and policies. The Region III Environmental Offices works closely with other FEMA programs such as Public Assistance, Individual Assistance, and Mitigation, to ensure applicants understand their responsibilities and plan projects that meet all requirements. Before funding the relocation of historic structures, FEMA must comply with applicable environmental and historic preservation policies.
