Public's Help Needed to Find Injured Bank Robber

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force is searching tonight for a suspect who was injured in a late afternoon bank robbery. Witnesses believe the robber was hurt when an anti-theft device exploded as he ran from the bank.

The robbery happened at the Sterling Savings Bank located at 3333 N. Lombard at about 4:15 pm. The robber entered the bank and stood in line with other customers. As he approached the teller desk, he showed a silver handgun and demanded money. As he was running away, the anti-theft device exploded. He may have sustained burns in his groin area and/or buttocks area.

The robber is described as:

White man
Age: Late 40's
Build: Very thin
Height: 5'6"
Hair: Dark
Wearing: Fake beard, a baseball cap with the letter "M" on it, dark long-sleeved T-shirt, light colored pants, sunglasses

The FBI asks anyone who may have contact with an individual seeking or needing medical treatment for such injuries to call (503) 224-4181 or 911 immediately. Photos are attached.
