OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- John E. Lewis, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, announced the robbery of Superior Bank, 101 S. 3rd Street, McAlester, Oklahoma, and the arrest of Michael E. Souza, 36, of McAlester, Oklahoma.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, a white male wearing a hat and bandana entered the Superior Bank and said, "I have a weapon - Give me all your money - $100's and $20's." He gathered the money in a blue Wal-Mart sack and exited the bank on foot. A witness followed the robber in his vehicle to a residence in the 700 block of South 3rd Street that he was seen entering.
Micheal E. Souza surrendered peacefully to the McAlester Police Department and the FBI after a conversation with a Oklahoma Highway Patrol Crisis Negotiotator. All the money taken during today's robbery was recovered.
The robbery is being investigated by the FBI and the McAlester Police Department. Souza faces Federal Bank Robbery charges or State Armed Robbery charges.
