In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Goodman Company, L.P., of Houston, Texas is voluntarily recalling about 875,000 Package Terminal Air Conditioner/Heat Pumps. A fire hazard may result from this chain of events: filter becomes clogged due to lack of maintenance, severely restricting airflow and resulting in elevated internal temperature; this may cause two safety switches to stop working during the product’s expected life; if the blower wheel then stops when the product is operated in the heating mode, a fire hazard can develop.
bullet Federal Government Warns of “Hidden Hazard” to Young Children Old Window Coverings Pose Strangulation Risk
October is Window Covering Safety Month and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Window Covering Safety Council and independent retailers have joined forces to urge consumers to repair or replace window coverings purchased before 2001. Strangulations can occur when young children become entangled in the inner or outer cord on the window covering.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Full Speed Ahead, Inc. of Woodinville, Washington is voluntarily recalling about 1,375 Bicycle wheel quick releases. An internal part in the lever mechanism can break, reducing clamping effectiveness and rendering the unit inoperable, potentially causing a bicyclist to fall.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., of Morgan Hill, Calif. is voluntarily recalling about 1,500 Bicycles. The handlebar may loosen and turn unexpectedly, which can cause the rider to lose control and fall.
bullet CPSC, PlayKids USA, Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y. Announce Recall baby Walkers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), PlayKids USA, Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y. is voluntarily recalling about 1,600 baby Walkers. The walkers will fit through a standard doorway and are not designed to stop at the edge of a step. Babies using these walkers can be seriously injured or killed if they fall down stairs.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sauder Woodworking Co., of Archbold, Ohio is voluntarily recalling about 300,000 TV/VCR carts. The carts can tip over and the television can fall off, posing a risk of serious injury or death if the TV and cart fall on a child.
bullet CPSC, Polaris Industries Announce Recall of ATVs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Polaris Industries, Inc., of Medina, Minn. is voluntarily recalling about 12,170 Polaris “Sportsman 700 EFI” ATVs. The throttle cable may bind when the handlebars are turned full left or full right, resulting in an increase in engine speed and unintended vehicle acceleration. In addition, the fuel line may rub against the vehicle chassis, resulting in a fuel line leak which could be a fire hazard.
bullet CPSC, Natura Products Downey Inc. Announce Recall of Pacifiers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Natura Products Downey Inc., of City of Commerce, Calif. is voluntarily recalling about 9,400 Jaloma pacifiers. The pacifiers are banned under federal law. They failed federal safety tests, come apart, and can pose a choking hazard to infants and small children.
bullet CPSC, IKEA Home Furnishings Announce Recall of Glass-Door Wall Cabinets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IKEA Home Furnishings, of Plymouth Meeting, Pa. is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 BERTBY Glass-Door Wall Cabinets. Some of these glass-door wall cabinets have the wrong sized screws for the safety bracket, which can result in the cabinet not being properly secured to the wall. The cabinets can fall and injure nearby consumers.
bullet CPSC, Delta Enterprise Corp. Announce Recall to Repair Director’s Chairs for Children
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Delta Enterprise Corp., of New York, N.Y. are voluntarily recalling about 81,000 Director’s Chairs for children. The chair can inadvertently be misassembled so that the fabric seat can come off the chair’s frame and expose metal support rods. If fabric seat comes off the frame, there is a laceration and fall hazard to young children.
bullet CPSC, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., and Deere & Company Announce Recall of ATVs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. of Valcourt, Quebec, Canada and Deere & Company of Moline, Illinois, are voluntarily recalling about 23,000 Bombardier and John Deere Buck all terrain vehicles (ATVs). Front brake hose can be pulled out of its retaining brackets on either side of the ATV by foreign objects. This can cause the brake hose to wear by rubbing on the inner wheel or shock absorber spring seat, ultimately causing a brake fluid leak resulting in a complete loss of front braking capacity. This can lead to an increase in the braking distance and possible collision with bystanders, fixed objects, or other vehicles, causing serious injury or death.
bullet CPSC, Eddie Bauer Announce Recall of Ebtek Brand Backpacks with Stools
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Kanaan Co., Ltd., of Seoul, Korea and Eddie Bauer Inc., of Redmond, Wash. are voluntarily recalling about 300 Ebtek Brand Backpacks with Stools. The stool could collapse and cause the person using the stool to fall. The stool does not meet the firm’s strength requirements.
bullet CPSC, Performance Inc. and Supergo Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycle Handlebars
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Performance Inc. and Supergo Inc., of Chapel Hill, N.C. are voluntarily recalling about 300 “Forte Flyte OS” and “Weyless CF200” Carbon Handlebars. The handlebars can develop cracks that may not be visible, which can cause the handlebar to break without warning, resulting in serious injury or death.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), DMM Engineering, of Gwynedd, U.K. is voluntarily recalling about 1,000 Wild Country-brand Helium carabiners.The carabiner gate may come open under a heavy load, which will significantly reduce the strength of the carabiner. The carabiner could break if the climber falls, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the climber.

bullet CPSC, Reebok International Announce Recall of Toddler’s Athletic Shoes
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Reebok International Ltd., of Canton, Mass. is voluntarily recalling about 140,000 Reebok “Iverson/Answer” toddler shoes. The I-3 logo-tag on the tongue of the shoe can be peeled off, posing a choking hazard to young children.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), IMI Cornelius, of Anoka, Minn. is voluntarily recalling about 900 Frozen Carbonate Drink Dispensers. The motor drive can overheat and cause the liquid contents to become hot. If this happens, the dispenser’s nozzle can break and expose consumers to the hot liquid, posing a risk of burns.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Arctic Cat Inc. of Thief River Falls, Minn.is voluntarily recalling about 5,193 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles.The red plastic skis used on certain 2004 Firecat and Sabercat snowmobiles could crack or break as a result of off-season exposure to ultraviolet sunlight. Ski failure could lead to loss of control that could result in severe injury or death.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), NCR Corp., of Dayton, Ohio is voluntarily recalling about 48,000 NCR Universal Inkjet Refill Kits.The product does not have required child-resistant packaging or required warning labels. The product contains ethylene glycol, posing an ingestion hazard to young children.

bullet CPSC, Suzuki Announce Recall of Four-Wheel Drive Eiger ATVs
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Suzuki Motor Corporation of Brea, Calif. is voluntarily recalling Eiger “QuadRunner” ATVs by Suzuki. Mislocated welds securing the upper front suspension arm mounting brackets to the frame. The mounting bracket could break off during riding, reducing rider control and resulting in loss of control of the ATV. Loss of control could result in a crash and severe personal injury or death.

Summer is over and many pools are now closed, but drowning dangers never end. Parents of young children need to know there are other drowning hazards in and around the home.
bullet CPSC, Hasbro Inc. Announce Recall of Monster Rockets
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Hasbro Inc., of Pawtucket, R.I. is voluntarily recalling about 230,000 Super Soaker Monster Rockets. The cap on the water tank can unexpectedly and forcibly project off when it is quickly unscrewed from the tank, posing a risk of impact injuries to users or bystanders. In addition, the rocket’s tail can strike a user or bystander on descent, if the rocket is not fully launched, posing a risk of injury.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Lexmark International Inc., of Lexington, Ky. is voluntarily recalling 39,431 Lexmark, Dell and IBM Laser Printers. These printers can short-circuit, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers.
bullet CPSC, Pelagic Pressure Systems Announce Recall of SCUBA BC Inflators
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Pelagic Pressure Systems, of San Leandro, Calif. is voluntarily recalling approximately 11,600 Oceanic-brand Reliant Buoyancy Compensator (BC) Inflators and AERIS-brand AW3 BC Inflators. The Power Inflator Buttons can stick, which can cause uncontrolled inflation of the BC. This could cause divers to ascend too fast, resulting in decompression sickness as well as the danger of an embolism.
bullet CPSC, Halcyon Manufacturing Announce Recall of SCUBA BC Inflators
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Halcyon Manufacturing, of High Springs, Fla. is voluntarily recalling about 4,000 Halcyon SCUBA Buoyancy Compensator (BC) Inflators. The SCUBA BC bladder can have a slow leak because of imperfections within the machining of the stainless air barrel of their inflators. This can cause unexpected buoyancy problems with divers, possibly resulting in decompression sickness.
bullet CPSC, IBM Announce Recall of AC Adapters for Notebook Computers
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), International Business Machines (IBM) Corp., of Armonk, N.Y. is voluntarily recalling about 225,000 AC Power Adapters. The adapters can overheat, cause damage to the circuit board and melt through the housing, which poses a fire and electrical shock hazard to consumers.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Target Corp., of Minneapolis, Minn. is voluntarily recalling approximately 74,811 Leoch Electric Scooters (also known as “Red Dragon” and “E-Scooter”). Improper wiring can cause a short circuit, posing a fire hazard in the scooter. In addition, inadequate insulation may expose electrical wiring, which poses a shock hazard.
bullet CPSC, Regal Lager Inc. Announce Recall to Repair Stroller Attachments
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Regal Lager Inc., of Kennesaw, Ga. is voluntarily recalling approximately 11,500 Lascal “Buggy Board” stroller attachments. The Buggy Board’s red connecting pins can break, causing the board to partially detach from the stroller or carriage, posing a fall hazard to the user.
bullet CPSC, Aviva Sports Announce Recall to Repair Astroslide Water Slides
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Aviva Sports, of Osage Beach, Mo. is voluntarily recalling approximately 7,500 Astroslide Inflatable Water Slides. These water slides have an excessive length of rope attached to the safety mat that presents a risk of entanglement in the water. This poses a drowning hazard to users.

If infants are placed on these pillows and left unattended, there is a risk of suffocation. Infant pillows and cushions are banned under the Federal law. Infant pillows have a flexible fabric covering, are loosely filled with plastic beads, easily flattened, intended for use by infants under 1 year old, and capable of conforming to the body or face of an infant.
