UPDATE ON THE FBI'S ANSIR PROGRAM 2003

Recipients are advised that the Awareness of National Security Issues and Response (ANSIR) E-Mail advisory system is suspended until further notice. There are two reasons for this action. Internally, the FBI outreach programs (i.e. ANSIR, NIPC (Infragard), and NTWS) are teaming up to improve the information products and services provided to the private sector. Secondly, the ANSIR program is under review by executive management to determine what role it will play to protect critical national assets in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security.

Even though ANSIR E-Mail is suspended temporarily, the national and local ANSIR programs are active and continue to provide outreach services to the corporate security community on behalf of the FBI's counterintelligence division. Your attention is directed to the ANSIR portion of the FBI website, www.fbi.gov, which has been redesigned and updated in support of the ANSIR mission. Corporate Security professionals are reminded that there is an ANSIR Coordinator point-of-contact in each FBI field office.

The FBI recognizes the importance of liaison with the private sector and the support and assistance provided by the public in protecting the rights and freedoms of Americans. Public trust and cooperation are critical to the FBI's success. ANSIR E-Mail recipients will be notified when the ANSIR E-Mail system returns to operation. In the interim, please visit the website, contact the National Program Manager or contact your local ANSIR Coordinator for more information about ANSIR.

This FBI Awareness of National Security Issues and Response (ANSIR) communication is intended for corporate security professionals and others who have requested to receive unclassified national security advisories. Individuals who wish to become direct recipients of FBI ANSIR communications should provide business card information, i.e., company name, address, phone, fax, e-mail address, etc., To ansir@leo.gov with a brief description of the product(s) and/or service(s) provided by your organization.
