Mr.
Schiff: It was a $12 million fraud case in the Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, area in the mid 1990s and it broke when a large
industrial supply company called the FBI...
Ms.
Williams: "What they were doing was contacting different companies,
churches, schools, nursing homes, and trying to talk to the
purchasing agent. They were offering that purchasing agent a
kickback worth about ten percent of the inflated value of products
that they were selling."
Mr.
Schiff: Special Agent Jerri Williams who was on the investigation
with other federal agencies...
Ms.
Williams: "The FBI and the United States Postal Inspection Service
worked with the IRS on this telemarketing Fraud Task Force."
Mr.
Schiff: Agents learned of gifts to purchasing personnel who
agreed to accept the high prices for industrial oil, silicon
oil, trash bags, lights and more. Williams says purchasers should
check all invoices...
Ms.
Williams: "This is stealing. Definitely they need to report
it to law enforcement."
Mr.
Schiff:Two primary suspects in this case were sent to prison.
