Hacker: Angry Ex-employee - I
Listen with Realplayer

Mr. Schiff: You know that it's important to be sure your computer at home or your computer systems at work are secure and safe from hackers. But sometimes things happen...

Mr. Henry: "In June of 2001, a major Internet web-hosting company contacted the FBI office in Baltimore and related that somebody had illegally accessed their corporate network."

Mr. Schiff: FBI Special Agent Shawn Henry who says this hacker knew exactly what he was doing...

Mr. Henry: "Reconfigured the switches that let their corporate network run."

Mr. Schiff: Henry says FBI Agents interviewed employees and came up with a possible suspect. Someone who had all the right passwords...

Mr. Henry: "Through our investigation at the corporation, we were able to identify a former employee who had left the company recently due to a contract dispute; he was a bit disgruntled."

Mr. Schiff: Henry says an undercover Agent made contact with the subject who eventually told the undercover Agent what he had done. The subject was later arrested. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced, and also ordered to pay thousands of dollars in restitution. I'm Neal Schiff and that's the FBI's Closed Case of the Week."
