Robbery; Surrender; Prison- II
Listen with Realplayer

Mr. Schiff: In the early 1990's, FBI Special Agent John Jacobs was on the bank robbery squad at the FBI's Cleveland office...

Mr. Jacobs: "I was assigned a bank robbery case where the robber used a note to rob the bank and left the note behind."

Mr. Schiff: Jacobs says Agents and police were a bit surprised when they saw the note...

Mr. Jacobs: "It was written on the back of a pay stub."

Mr. Schiff: Jacobs says that the bank's surveillance cameras provided an excellent picture of the bank thief...

Mr. Jacobs: "Using that pay stub that was left behind, and the photograph, we were able to determine who robbed the bank."

Mr. Schiff: Jacobs says investigators were on the heels of the subject...

Mr. Jacobs: "Working with the local police and the other FBI Agents, we were able to determine, to contact, the bank robber's sister, who advised that her brother did rob the bank and wanted to turn himself in."

Mr. Schiff: As things turned out, the subject had previously been in prison on other charges. He admitted having trouble living on the outside so he robbed a bank because, as he said, he wanted to go back to prison. He was later sentenced. I'm Neal Schiff and that's the FBI's Closed Case of the Week."
