Eleni P. Kalisch

Ms. Kalisch joined the
FBI in February 1995 as Assistant General Counsel in the Investigative
Law Unit of the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). During her
tenure in OGC, Ms. Kalisch served a detail assignment to the National
Security Law Unit and was appointed Special Assistant United States
Attorney in the Southern District of New York to assist the General
Counsel in preparing an appellate brief to the Second Circuit Court
of Appeals. In April 1997, she was named Special Assistant to the
Deputy General Counsel where her assignments focused on FBI Laboratory-related
issues arising from the Department of Justice Inspector General
Report.
In January 1998, Ms. Kalisch
joined the FBI's Office of Public and Congressional Affairs as
Special Counsel where she handled Congressional inquiries relating
to several sensitive espionage investigations and the reinvestigation
of the events at Waco, Texas. In September 2000, she became the
first Section Chief of the Government Relations Section within
the Office of Public and Congressional Affairs. As Section Chief,
Ms. Kalisch was responsible for the Historical and Executive Review
Unit's declassification of files of historical interest, including
the John F. Kennedy assassination documents and the Nazi War Crimes
materials. She also managed the Executive, Congressional, and Public
Constituent Services Unit and the Congressional Affairs Office.
On August 7, 2003, she was appointed Assistant Director of the
FBI's newly defined Office of Congressional Affairs.
Prior to joining the FBI,
Ms. Kalisch served as Counsel to the United States Senate Permanent
Subcommittee on Investigations of the Senate Governmental Affairs
Committee, chaired by former Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia. Prior
to moving to the Washington, DC area, Ms. Kalisch served as an
Assistant District Attorney in DeKalb County, Georgia.
Ms. Kalisch earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia and
a law degree from Georgia State University.
