Thomas V. Fuentes - Special Agent in Charge, International Operations

Mr. Fuentes was born November 11, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Business Administration, and Public Service from Governors State University, University Park, Illinois.

On September 9, 1979, Mr. Fuentes was appointed a Special Agent of the FBI. Following training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to the Chicago Field Office where he served for ten years. In his tenure, he supervised an Organized Crime Task Force Squad.

In March, 1990, Mr. Fuentes was transferred to the Organized Crime Section, Criminal Investigative Division, at FBI Headquarters. From May, 1992 to February, 1993, he was assigned to the Inspection Division as an Assistant Inspector. He was also selected as a 1991-1992 Fellow in the Council for Excellence in Government Fellowship Program.

In July, 1994, to August 1997, he served Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the San Francisco Field Office. He managed the Organized Crime/Drug and White Collar Crime and SWAT Programs. During his tenure in the San Francisco Field Office, he established the International Cybercrime Squad and served as one of the FBI tactical commanders at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

In August, 1997 to September 2002, he served as Chief of the Organized Crime Section, FBI Headquarters, where he managed all FBI organized crime investigations. HE established an Organized Crime Task Force comprised of FBI Agents and Hungarian National Police Officers in Budapest, Hungary. He serves on several international working groups, including the G-8 Law Enforcement Projects Group and the Organized Crime Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

On September 23, 2002, to the present, he has served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Indianapolis Field Office, with responsibility for FBI operations in the state of Indiana. In July, 2003, through September, 2003, he served a the first On-Scene Commander for FBI Operations in Iraq.

In May 2004, Mr. Fuentes was designated Special Agent in Charge of the International Operations Division.
