Contact Information:

Jonathan Wiest, Ph.D.

The mission of the CCR Office of Training and Education is to have a programmatic impact on the overall training experience of the basic scientists and clinical fellows in cancer research. This will be achieved through the following goals:

  • Facilitate and promote training opportunities for Fellows utilizing NCI, NIH, and academic courses.
  • Plan and implement new courses and training programs to prepare Fellows as successful independent biomedical researchers.
  • Provide opportunities for secondary mentors and expanded collaborative interactions.
  • Provide funding mechanisms to reward outstanding research efforts by Postdoctoral Fellows.
  • Implement funding mechanisms such as the Career Development Awards (K22) to facilitate the Fellow's competitiveness as candidates for academic faculty positions.
  • Assist trainees as they transition into academic positions and offer exposure to alternative career paths.

The Summer Intern Program can be accessed though the NIH Office of Education at: www.training.nih.gov.

The online recruitment for postdoctoral fellows can be accessed at: http://generalemployment.nci.nih.gov/.
