Events

There are quite a few NCI/CCR faculty meetings, retreats, and seminar series scheduled for this fall/winter. The faculty events are "open" to all NCI principal investigators and participation will be key to their success.

Faculty Meetings

The Epidemiology, Carcinogenesis, and Prevention General Faculty Meeting will be held October 3 in Wilson Hall (Bldg. 1) from 1:00-2:30 pm. All interested investigators are invited to come and join in the discussion.

Faculty Retreats

  • September 17, 2001 HIV and Virology - Holiday Inn, Gaithersburg, MD
  • September 19, 2001 Cancer Prevention Models working group - Holiday Inn, Frederick, MD
  • October 1, 2001 Gynecological Oncology - Pooks Hill Marriott, Bethesda, MD
  • October 5, 2001 Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology - DoubleTree Hotel, Rockville, MD
  • October 22, 2001 Clinical Trials Design Workshop - Natcher Conference Center, NCI, Bethesda, MD
  • November 15-16, 2001 Molecular Targets (MT) - Xerox Conference Center, Leesburg, VA
  • December 3, 2001 Discussion of MT initiatives from Retreat - Pooks Hill Marriott, Bethesda, MD
  • January 10-11, 2002 NCI Intramural PI Retreat - Westfields Conference Center, Chantilly, VA
  • February 2002 Genetics, Genomics, and Proteomics - Site/date to be determined

Registration for all of these retreats is being coordinated by Palladian Partners and you can register at: http://www.palladianpartners.com/irpfaculties/default.htm

Faculty Seminars

The Immunology Faculty will begin a weekly lunch hour seminar series starting September 25 on Tuesdays from 12:00-1:00 pm in Building 10/2S235.

The Epidemiology, Carcinogenesis, and Prevention (ECP) Faculty seminar series will be held on the following dates:

October 9 Bldg. 31/6C6, 9:00-11:00 am
November 8 Bldg. 31/6C6, 11:30-1:30 pm
December 13 Bldg. 31/6C6, 9:00-11:00 am

CCR Grand Rounds (September)

September 11 - Cancer Proteomics. The speakers this month will be Drs. Lance Liotta (Laboratory of Pathology, CCR) and Emanuel Petricoin (Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, FDA). Grand Rounds will be held in Lipsett Amphitheater (Bldg. 10, Clinical Center) from 8:30-9:30 am. For more information, go to http://calendar.nci.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sbdev

Other NCI/CCR Fall Events

October 15 - 12th Annual Frederick Capillary Electrophoresis Conference. Discussions of established and new approaches to capillary electrophoresis (CE). CE separation of small ions as well as large biomolecules and, in particular, CE's application in clinical, pharmaceutical, and biomedical research will be addressed. This Conference is "open" to all NIH investigators who are interested in this topic. To learn more, visit http://web.ncifcrf.gov/events/ce_conference/

October 22 - NCI-Frederick Interdisciplinary Scientific Retreat. An excellent opportunity for wide-ranging and fruitful scientific exchange by scientists working at NCI-Frederick, this Retreat features short talks and poster presentations that represent the broad spectrum of research efforts at NCI-Frederick. This Retreat is "open" to both NCI principal investigators and postdoctoral fellows who work on the Frederick campus. For additional information, visit http://www.ncifcrf.gov/nciretreat/

December 9 - Second HIV DRP Symposium: Antiviral Drug Resistance. The goal of this Symposium is to assemble researchers who work in diverse viral systems yet share a common interest in mechanisms of antiviral drug action and resistance. The focus will be on specific molecular targets, their normal structure and function, their interactions with antiviral drugs, and the evolutionary basis and specific mechanisms of viral resistance. This conference is "open" to all NIH investigators. For more details, visit http://web.ncifcrf.gov/campus/symposium/index.html
