This page provides a few tips for searching and ordering SAGE III data
through the EOS Data Gateway (EDG).
Please note that searching by geographic area is currently unavailable.
To ensure that your order processes successfully, we request that you order no more than one month of data per order.
Note: Please read the alert message board highlighted in yellow or red on the EDG Home Page. This board will let you know important messages from the Data Centers (i.e., system maintenance will cause the system to be down, which means you will not be able to order data).
You have successfully entered the EDG and are ready to set up a search.
At the Primary Data Search page, under Method 2, select "Data Set". When the new page appears, scroll down the list of tables (the data sets appear alphabetically), and select either the HDF-EOS or the Native format of the SAGE III data sets. Click OK.
Once the Primary Data Search page reappears, scroll down to "Choose a Date/Time Range" and enter dates. Currently, only one month of data at a time can be ordered (e.g., start date: 2002-11-01 and end date: 2002-11-30).
Under "Choose Additional Options", change the maximum granules from 100 to 1000.
Depending upon the load on the system, it may take some time for the search to complete. When results are returned, you are ready to place an order. A granule consists of a data file and its associated metadata file.
You will receive an e-mail receipt at the address you specified in the order form.
A second e-mail message, with the subject "ECS Notification", will contain the details of how your order will be delivered. Each data file will be delivered with a metadata file that will be identified by the data file name with a .met appended.
NOTE: Your EDG order is available for 96 hours. Some distribution problems are still being resolved. If you have not received a notification message within 24 hours, contact Langley Data Center User Services.
A complete User's Manual is available through the EDG.
