Project Description
MEASUREnet-gov is a computer/video/audio network using the Internet, Microsoft NetMeeting* software, and PictureTel* multipoint conferencing software to allow multipoint conferences and data sharing over the Internet. We are using these "off the shelf" software tools to link NIST and State metrology laboratories for measurement training, collaboration, and sharing of measurement data. The system is basically a "computer network among government measurement laboratories using the Internet". A similar program was started Dec 1998 called SIMnet (SIM = InterAmerican Metrology System) with NIST and 10 other national metrology laboratories in the Americas.
