Indian Country Crime

Indian Country Evidence Task Force (ICETF)

In June 2000, the FBI Laboratory created the Indian Country Evidence Task Force (ICETF). The ICETF was established to ensure timely analysis of evidence in Indian Country investigations. The ICETF is composed of FBI Laboratory experts in the fields of DNA, Trace Evidence, Latent Prints, and Firearms, who are dedicated solely to Indian Country cases. Additional Indian Country forensic examinations are conducted by local and state forensic laboratories located near Indian reservations.

The Indian Country Unit provides evidence recovery and processing equipment, cameras, tripods, evidence refrigerators/freezers, global positioning systems, blood drying cabinets, and a variety of crime scene processing items to Special Agents, and their counterparts in Indian Country, to support crime scene evidence collection and examination activities.
