Roberto Clemente was a baseball player who played right field with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League. His mother, sister and fiancee visited him in Pittsburgh in 1964. He received an extortion letter in 1972, wherein he was threatened with being shot. The letter threatened him during a game in September 1972, but he played the game with no incident happening. No further threats were received, so nothing was done concerning the threat. He spent his off seasons in Puerto Rico.
