Generoso Pope, Jr., was born on January 13, 1927. Generoso Pope, Jr., was the publisher of the "New York Enquirer" and the "Il Progresso" newspapers. In the summer of 1971, Pope moved the "National Enquirer" from New Jersey to Lantana, Florida. Frank Costello, well known crime figure, sponsored a dinner for the Salvation Army at the Copacabana Night Club where Pope was one of the attendees, at $100 per plate. On May 2, 1957, Frank Costello went to the Monsignore Restaurant with Pope and was shot to death.
