ATF APPOINTS EXECUTIVE TO HEAD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Dr. Gregg “Skip” Bailey Named Assistant Director, Chief Information Officer

WASHINGTON – Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Director Carl J. Truscott today announced the selection of Dr. Gregg “Skip” Bailey as assistant director for the Office of Science and Technology and chief information officer, effective Oct. 17, 2004. Dr. Bailey will oversee ATF divisions, including forensic and fire research laboratories; information systems and computer services; and forensic auditors.

“We are excited about the experience and credentials that Dr. Bailey brings to ATF,” said Director Truscott. “He comes to us with a rich background in the IT field, and will continue ATF’s exceptional capabilities in law enforcement information systems and technology.”

Dr. Bailey most recently served as an assistant director for information technology at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where he was responsible for enterprise IT operations. He also had been the chief technology officer and director of engineering and architecture for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Brigham Young University, University of Phoenix, New Mexico State University and other institutions of higher learning.

Dr. Bailey received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University, and his master’s and doctorate from New Mexico State University. He has served on advisory boards for two universities, and has been active in many professional organizations.
