Albert Anastasia was born in 1902 in Italy and was naturalized in 1943 while in the
United States Army. He allegedly controlled the rackets, strike breakers and ran the strong arm activities on the New York City waterfront. He was also a leading figure in a criminal group in Brooklyn, NY referred to as Murder, Incorporated," which he controlled. He was one of seventeen naturalized citizens who faced deportation hearings in 1953. On October 25, 1957, Anastasia was gunned down by a masked gunman as he sat in a barber's chair at the Hotel Park Sheraton at 7th Avenue and 55th Streets, New York City.
