Jonathan I. Solomon - Executive
Assistant Director, Administration
Mr. Solomon was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised
on Long Island. He attended the State University of New
York at Buffalo, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Political
Science. Mr. Solomon continued his education attaining
his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of Buffalo
at New York in 1983. He was admitted to the New York State
Bar Association in February 1984.
Mr.
Solomon entered on duty with the FBI in September 1983,
and after training school, was assigned to the Kansas
City Division, working a variety of criminal matters.
In February 1987, Mr. Solomon was transferred to the
Philadelphia Division, where his assignments included
Drug and White Collar crime investigations. In November
1991, Mr. Solomon was promoted to the position of Supervisory
Special Agent in the then Administrative Summary Unit,
FBIHQ, where he had responsibilities for the adjudication
of employee misconduct matters, performance related issues,
and inspection matters. In January 1994, Mr. Solomon
was promoted to the position of Supervisory special Agent
in the Buffalo Division, where he supervised the division's
Organized Crime/Drug Squad. In July 1997, Mr. Solomon
was promoted to the position of Chief of the FBI's Transfer
Unit, FBIHQ; and, in February 1999, he was designated
as the Chief of the FBI's Background Investigation Contract
Service. In October 1999, Mr. Solomon was designated
Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Tampa Division.
In April 2002, Mr. Solomon was promoted to the position
of Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant Director
for Administration, FBIHQ. In this capacity, he also
provided assistance and support to the Deputy Director.
In January 2003, Mr. Solomon was selected to serve as the
Special Assistant to FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III.
In this capacity, Mr. Solomon provided counsel to the Director
on a wide variety of policy issues. Additionally, Mr. Solomon
provided day‑to‑day administrative support
to the Director by assisting in his preparation for meetings
and accompanying him on all official travel.
Mr. Solomon was appointed by Director Mueller on January
22, 2004, as the Special Agent in Charge of the Miami Field
Office. On May 18, 2004, he was asked to serve as acting
EAD for Administration, and on July 2, 2004, Director Mueller
named him Executive Assistant Director for Administration
where he is responsible for managing FBI administrative
programs worldwide and for directing the FBI's re-engineering
initiatives.
