Bernard Baruch was born August 19, 1870. He was a banker and stock broker, and he was characterized as an elder statesman. He was on Director Hoover's correspondence list. Much of the information consists of newspaper clippings and letters of correspondence concerning Mr. Baruch. On his 90th Birthday, a park bench was dedicated in Lafayette Park called "The Bernard Baruch Bench of Inspiration." Mr. Baruch was very friendly to Foreign Minister Andre Gromyko and other notables of the Soviet Union. He was the victim of an Extortion attempt. Mr. Baruch died April 8,1966.
