Press Release

R. Joe Clark, Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Police Chief Sterling P. Owen IV of the Knoxville Police Department, and Tim Hutchison, Knox County Sheriff, are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the person who robbed the BB&T in Bearden today.

The BB&T at 4611 Kingston Pike, in the Bearden area of Knoxville, Tennessee, was the victim of a bank robbery today. Witnesses report that at approximately 11:00 this morning, a white male, who looked to be in his 40's, with darkly tanned features, approximately five foot eight inches tall, weighing 180-190 pounds, with a stocky build, entered the bank. He was wearing a dirty blue or black tee-shirt with a circular emblem on it, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a ball cap described as a "trucker's cap", meaning tall in front with plastic mesh in the back. The hat was dark in front and white in back, with a small emblem on front. He told a teller he had a weapon and demanded money. After taking an undetermined amount of money, the robber left through the main door.

Anyone having any information concerning this robbery should call the FBI at (865) 544-0751 or the Knoxville Police Department's Hotline at 865/215-7212.

The public is cautioned not to approach this individual, but to immediately notify law enforcement of his whereabouts. The public is further reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
