NEWS RELEASE

R. Joe Clark, Special Agent in Charge of the Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced the arrest of JOHN DOUGLAS DUCKETT, who will be charged with the robbery of Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T;), located 7709 Northshore Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee.

According to witnesses, a lone white male armed with a handgun entered the bank at approximately 3:30 this afternoon. He announced the robbery, and proceeded to take a substantial amount of cash from the teller drawers. After fleeing the bank, the robber entered a older model white Chrysler Spirit and sped away.

A witness was able to provide law enforcement with the description of the get-away vehicle, which was spotted shortly thereafter by members of the Knoxville Police Department. Officers took DUCKETT into custody without incident. Money and a handgun were also recovered.

DUCKETT is described as a white male, date of birth July 22, 1959, and his last known address is Walland, Tennessee

Continued investigation into this matter will be conducted by the Knoxville Police Department and the FBI.

DUCKETT will be taken for his initial appearance early tomorrow. The public is reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
