NOAA 508 Web Team Honored

The Web Implementation Team of the NOAA Section 508 Working Group was honored with the NOAA Administrators' Award at a ceremony, May 10th, 2002.

Through workshops and Webcasts for Web developers and procurement officials, testing and evaluation of NOAA Web sites, and the information on this Web site and other resources materials, the team has been dedicated to excellence and the promotion of this unfunded and often overlooked mandate.

As a result of these efforts, NOAA's Section 508 program has been recognized by the Department as an excellent example of Section 508 implementation. A staff member at the Federal Access Board has -complimented NOAA on the effectiveness of its 508 efforts. Thanks in large part to the members of this team NOAA was successful in meeting the June deadline contained in the law and continues to be successful in ensuring that its Web sites are accessible.

Believing in the importance of the effort, the team members used their own initiative to develop a multi-faceted NOAA-wide program. The program allowed NOAA to successfully implement the new law within the compressed time frame allowed. The team consists of the following Working Group Members:
