Idaho Town Launches Fight Against Gun Crime

Police in Meridian are handing out gun locks as part of a program to prevent gun-related injuries among children. Officials have also used Project Safe Neighborhoods funds to hire a crime prevention officer and school resource officer, and they are teaching gun safety classes in the community.

Pennsylvania Area Join Project ChildSafe Ranks

More than 10,000 gun locks were given to the Westmoreland County sheriff’s office as part of Project ChildSafe, and thousands more have been requested by area police.

Day-Care Centers Are Among Gun Lock Recipients

Working in conjunction with Project ChildSafe, the Benton, Arkansas, Police Department last week distributed 3,625 gun locks to 9 day-care centers and 17 insurance companies.

Oregonians To Receive Gun Locks

Free gun locks will be given out this week in Salem, courtesy of Project ChildSafe. The cable-style locks, which are similar to bicycle locks, also come with installation and gun safety information.

Kids in Salisbury, North Carolina, recently heard police speak about the four things they should do if they see a gun: stop, don't touch, run, and tell the police. The presentation was part of the Salisbury SAFEKids Program.
