Mentors Help Reduce Recidivism
The Boston Reentry Initiative reduces recidivism by providing the highest-risk offenders with mentors who can help the offenders establish plans for their lives after their release. The program also offers access a range of community resources, including employment assistance.

ShotSpotter System Adds High-Tech Eyes and Ears to Street
New technology that automatically detects, locates, and reports gunfire is helping law enforcement officers in South Carolina respond more quickly to gun crime. The remote system had an 80 percent success rate in locating test shots within 40 feet.

Pledge Helps Students Fight Gun Violence
More than 170,000 students from more than 70 Kentucky school districts have signed pledges against school violence in an effort to involve young people in the effort to curb gun crime while they are still receptive to messages about school safety. The pledge, which was developed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Kentucky, was signed simultaneously by all students during a statewide ceremony.

Nevada District Doubles Resources Through Partnership
Weekly meetings by a PSN screening committee have improved the investigation and prosecution of gun crime in the Las Vegas area. The meetings, which are part of wider collaboration with local agencies, allow U.S. attorneys to educate local law enforcement about federal prosecution requirements.
