David Bohm was employed by the Radiation Laboratory, University of California on the Atomic Energy Project during the time it was under the jurisdiction of the Manhattan Engineering District. In 1947, he moved to Princeton University as an Assistant Professor of Physics. In 1951, David Bohm accepted a position on the faculty of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In December 1954, he applied for and became a Brazilian citizen. He reportedly signed a contract with the University of Haifa and was expected to go to Israel in March of 1955. He joined the staff of Technion Laboratory, a part of Israel's Institute of Technology. In 1957, he delivered lectures at Bristol University, England and the College de France, Paris. In 1957 he was employed as a research fellow in Physics at Bristol University, England. In 1976, he received two visas to visit the United States.
