Suspect Sought in Loop Bank Robbery

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual depicted in the attached photograph, who is responsible for last week's robbery of the First American Bank branch, located at 50 East Adams in Chicago.

According to witnesses, the robber entered the bank shortly after noon. He immediately approached a teller and handed her a note, announcing a robbery and demanding money. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber fled the bank on foot, disappearing into the noontime crowd. Although his note implied that he was armed, no weapon was displayed.

Witnesses described the robber as a black/male, 25 - 30 years of age, 6' tall, medium build with a full beard and mustache. He was wearing a dark blue shirt and black or navy baseball type cap.

No injuries were reported during the robbery, which is being investigated by the Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF). Anyone recognizing the individual depicted in the attached photograph is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

EDITOR's NOTE: Additional copies of the attached photograph are available from the Chicago FBI Press Office, either by courier or e-mail, by calling (312) 786-2645.
