Suspect Arrested in Slaying of 4-year-old Boy

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the arrest of TERRENCE LIGON, age 26, of Chicago Illinois.

LIGON was arrested at approximately 4:20 this afternoon by members of the Memphis FBI Safe Streets Task Force, composed of FBI Agents and officers from the Memphis Police Department, without incident and released into custody of the local authorities in Memphis, Tennessee. The FBI, working cooperatively with the Chicago Police Department (CPD), developed information that LIGON left the Chicago area and subsequently obtained a federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

The Chicago FBI Fugitive Task Force, working in conjunction with the CPD and the FBI's Memphis and Jackson Divisions, developed information that led to LIGON's capture. It is alleged that LIGON fled Chicago after fatally shooting 4-year-old ROBERT ANDERSON III on July 6th, in a gang-related shooting on the west side of Chicago.

The public is reminded that criminal charges are not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
