September 25, 2001 Memorial Service Planned for Former Chicago Agent Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today that a memorial service has been scheduled for John P. O'Neill, age 50, who has been identified as a victim of the terrorist attack at the World Trade Center in New York City. A 31-year veteran of the FBI and an expert on counter-terrorism, Mr. O'Neill had taken a position as Security Director for the World Trade Center just two weeks before the attack. At the time of his retirement from the FBI, Mr. O'Neill headed the counter-terrorism program in the New York Office. Mr. O'Neill served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office from 1991-1995. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 9th, at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 West Adams in Chicago.
