Bank Robber Sought

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual believed responsible for a bank robbery that occurred October 17, 2001 at a TCF Bank branch, located in the Jewel grocery store at 5516 N. Clark Street in Chicago.

According to witnesses, at approximately 6:30 pm, an individual described as an Hispanic male, approximately 25 years of age, 5'9"-5'11" tall, medium build, with light facial hair, entered the bank and approached a teller.  He handed the teller a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash.  After receiving an undetermined amount of money, he fled the bank, walking westbound on Ashland Avenue.  Although his note implied that he was armed, no weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported.

The FBI and Chicago Police are investigating.  Anyone recognizing the individual depicted in the attached bank surveillance photograph is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.  Photos of the alleged bank robber are available to the media by calling the FBI Press Office directly at (312) 786-2645.
