October 10, 2001 Media Advisory Recent reports in the local media indicated that three men had been taken into custody last night by the FBI at O'Hare International Airport, following a disturbance on United Airlines flight 729. This flight had a scheduled departure from O'Hare at 7:55 PM, en route to St. Louis. Three men were in fact removed from this plane at the request of the flight crew. All three men were questioned by the FBI and later released. No charges have been filed in connection with this incident as there does not appear to be a violation of Federal Criminal Law. This incident apparently resulted from the inability of the flight crew to communicate with the passengers due to language barriers. As no charges have been filed, the identities of the questioned passengers will not be released. |
