Chicago Man Charged with Bank Robbery

Thomas J. Kneir, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of FRANK A. PASTORE, age 68, of Chicago, Illinois. PASTORE was taken into custody by FBI Agents, earlier today, after being charged in a criminal complaint with the November 24th robbery of the Bank One branch, located at 10440 South Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

According to the complaint, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, PASTORE took $1032 from one of the bank's tellers, after orally announcing a robbery and displaying a handgun, which later turned out to be a plastic replica. PASTORE was followed out of the bank by an alert customer, who saw him fleeing in a vehicle that was parked nearby. The robber and vehicle descriptions were provided to the Oak Lawn Police, who were able to locate and arrest PASTORE, a short time later. No injuries were reported during the robbery, though PASTORE was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains.

PASTORE is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Chicago, later today, at which time he will be formally charged. If convicted, PASTORE faces a maximum of penalty of up to twenty (20) years in prison. SAC KNEIR would like to commend the Oak Lawn Police Department for their quick response and diligent efforts in solving this crime.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
