Glenview Bank Robber Arrested

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and William Fitzpatrick, Chief of the Glenview Police Department, announced today the arrest of AMBER L. BRUBAKER, age 22, of Gurnee, Illinois. BRUBAKER was arrested late yesterday afternoon following the robbery of the Northern Trust Bank branch, located at 2550 Waukegan Road in Glenview.

At approximately 2:45 P.M., a lone robber described by witnesses as a white/female, 20-25 years of age, entered the bank and approached a teller. She handed the teller a note which indicated that she was armed with a handgun and a bomb and demanded money. After receiving cash from the teller's drawer, the robber fled the bank and entered a vehicle, which was parked nearby.

Witnesses saw the robber flee and provided a description of the vehicle to responding Glenview Police Officers. They tracked her to a nearby apartment complex, where BRUBAKER was arrested, without incident. No bombs or weapons were recovered and no injuries were reported.

BRUBAKER was subsequently turned over to the FBI, who charged her in a criminal complaint filed today in U.S. District Court in Chicago, with one count of bank robbery. BRUBAKER appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sidney Schenkier, earlier today, who ordered her held without bond pending her next scheduled court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
