Bank Robber Sought

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public's help in identifying the individual responsible for the February 17th robbery of the North Community Bank branch, located at 2800 North Western Avenue in Chicago.

According to witnesses, at approximately 1:45 P.M., an individual described as a Hispanic/male, 25-30 years of age, 5'6" tall, medium build, entered the bank and approached a teller. He handed her a note announcing a robbery and demanding cash from her drawer. After receiving an undetermined amount of money, he fled the bank on foot, last seen running North on Western Avenue. He was wearing a light colored hooded sweatshirt and a multi-colored bandana around his head.

Although his note implied that he was armed, no weapon was displayed and no injuries were reported. The FBI and Chicago Police are investigating. Anyone recognizing this individual is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

(Photographs of the robber are available from the FBI Press Office at (312) 786-2645.)
