FBI Searched for ATM Robbers

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is asking for the public's help in identifying the individuals responsible for the July 21, 2001 robbery of nearly $85,000 from an ATM machine at the Bank One branch, located at 1825 West Lawrence Avenue in Chicago.

At approximately noon on Saturday, an employee of Bantek West, Inc., who is contracted by Bank One to service their ATM machines, was confronted by two armed men as he was working on an ATM, located in the bank's drive-up facility. After being forced to open the machine, the robbers removed cash from the ATM and fled the area on foot. The Bantek employee, who was ordered into a corner of the drive-up facility, was unharmed.

The robbers are described by witnesses as Hispanic males, 20-25 years of age, 5'6" - 5'8" tall, medium build. Both robbers had light to medium beards and were armed with handguns, make and caliber not determined.

Anyone with information about this robbery of recognizing either of the individuals depicted in the attached bank surveillance photo is asked to call the FBI at (312) 431-1333.

Copies of a bank surveillance photo showing the robbery in progress are available from the FBI's Public Affairs Office at (312) 786-2645. Additionally, a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers is being offered by the Bantek West Company. Details about the reward can be obtained from Michael L. DeVille, Vice President of Security and Compliance, at (303) 614-4702.
