Suspects in TCF Robbery Arrested

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Terry G. Hillard, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, announced today the arrest of three men suspected of robbing the TCF Bank branch located at 6057 South Western Avenue, on January 24th.

Those arrested are identified as MALCOLM G. CARPENTER, age 20, of 7517 South Dorchester, Chicago; JAMAR J. EVANS, age 20, of 24 West 111th Place, Chicago and ANTWAN R. TIMMS, age 20, of 1115 Edbrooke, Chicago. All three men were taken into custody by Chicago Police Officers, without incident, late Friday evening, following a tip from the public.

CARPENTER, EVANS and TIMMS were turned over to the FBI on Saturday morning and were charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery. All three men were ordered held without bond, pending their next scheduled court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
