FBI Arrests Three For Kidnapping

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the arrest of three men, two from the City of Chicago, for the January 14, 2001 kidnapping of a 28 year old female, also from the City of Chicago.

The three arrested men are identified as ROY E. YOUNG, age 27, of Michigan City, Indiana; SIDNEY Y. FROKNEWIN, age 19, of 743 East 133rd Street, Chicago and DWIGHT K. ALEXANDER, age 24, of 655A East 131st Street, Chicago. All three men were arrested yesterday morning by members of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force, without incident, in the vicinity of the Altgeld Gardens housing project.

The arrests were based on a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, which alleges that the three men abducted the Victim from her residence during the early evening hours of January 14th and transported her to the Michigan City residence of YOUNG, where she was held for nearly five days. During that time, it is alleged that the Victim was repeatedly assaulted, both physically and sexually, and was threatened with death by YOUNG.

The Victim was able to escape from her captors on January 18th, at which time local police were summoned. The Victim has been treated for her injuries and released. All three men have appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlander Keys, who ordered them held without bond, pending a court appearance on Thursday.

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Chicago Police Detectives and Cook County Sheriff's Police Officers. The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
