SUSPECT IN HARVEY POLICE SHOOTING ARRESTED

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of MATTHEW EDWIN JUDKINS, age 30, of 14245 South Wood Street, Dixmoore, Illinois. JUDKINS was arrested late last night, without incident, by the FBI's Fugitive Task Force at 711 South Halsted Street in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

JUDKINS is wanted by the Harvey, Illinois Police Department for the January 7th shooting of an off-duty Harvey Police Officer. Acting on information developed by the Illinois State Police and the Charleston, Illinois Police Department, Task Force members arrested JUDKINS as he was using a pay phone at the Chicago Heights address, which is a Marathon gas station. JUDKINS was turned over to the Cook County Sheriff's office, where he is being held without bond.

The FBI's Fugitive Task Force is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Deputy U.S. Marshals, Secret Service Special Agents, Cook County Sheriff's Detectives and Chicago Police Detectives.
