Bank Robber Arrested

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Terry G. Hillard, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, announced today the arrest of HENRY S. SWAIN, age 49, of 1344 East 89th Place, Chicago.

SWAIN was arrested without incident, yesterday afternoon, by Chicago Police Officers responding to a robbery at the Citi Bank branch at 8650 South Stoney Island. Witnesses to the robbery directed the responding officers to a nearby residence, into which they had seen SWAIN flee.

SWAIN was subsequently taken into custody by the FBI and was charged in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago with one count of bank robbery. He appeared earlier today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nan R. Nolan, who ordered him held without bond pending his next scheduled court appearance.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
