BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced today the arrest of WILLIAM DERRICK KNIGHT, age 35, of 3009 West 19th Street in Chicago. KNIGHT was arrested by members of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) on Friday, February 2, 2001, without incident.

KNIGHT was arrested for the July 7, 2000 robbery of the Metropolitan Bank, 2201 West Cermak Road in Chicago. He was charged with this robbery in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District in Chicago on February 3, 2001. KNIGHT appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Morton Denlow, who released KNIGHT on bond, pending his next scheduled court appearance.

The Chicago FBI's VCTF is comprised of FBI Special Agents, Chicago Police Detectives and Cook County Sheriff's Police Officers.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
