BANK ROBBERS SOUGHT

Kathleen L. McChesney, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is asking for the public's help in identifying the individuals responsible for the robbery, Wednesday afternoon, of the St. Paul Federal Bank, 6020 W. Roosevelt Road in Oak Park.

At approximately 1:00 P.M., two men, both armed with handguns, entered the St. Paul Federal branch. Robber #1 remained in the lobby, ordered customers to the ground, and stood guard over them as Robber #2 vaulted the teller counter and took an undetermined amount of money from several teller drawers. Upon receiving the currency, the robbers fled the bank in what witnesses described as a black Chevy van.

Robber #1 is described as a black/male, 5'8"-5'9" tall, 170 lbs.,30-35 years of age. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark skull cap. Robber #2 is described as a black/male, 6' tall, 200 lbs., with a light complexion, 30-35 years of age. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dark coat, wrap-around sunglasses, and a dark skull cap.

These individuals are also suspected of robbing the HARRIS BANK branch, located at 4723 S. Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, on December 23, 2000 and again on January 19, 2001.

No injuries were reported. The Oak Park Police Department and the FBI are investigating.
